After a microwave and refrigerator, what is the next essential kitchen appliance? It’s a blender that lets you make soups, marinades, milkshakes, smoothies, and lots more. For that very purpose, the Vitamix E310 vs A2500 are two great picks.
The Vitamix A2500 is even more so because it has lots more upgraded features and a larger blending capacity for more people. The Vitamix E310 is compact (you can blend 48 ounces at a time) and it has basic but sturdy features.
Both are heavy-duty, consistent, and programmable blenders for daily use. They even offer a self-cleaning function and come with dishwasher-safe parts for easy maintenance. But for more blending quantity and smart controls, the A2500 is the clear winner. But it’s also a considerable investment.

Vitamix E310 vs A2500: Differences
The bottom line is that the Vitamix A2500 is the better choice (3 – 1) for consistent and advanced use of a blender at home. It’s smarter than the E310 with Bluetooth, 3 program buttons, and a digital timer. The E310, on the other hand, takes up less space, is quieter, and is faster to clean.
1. Blending Performance
The Winner: Vitamix A2500
+Power
More is always better, right? Perhaps that is why the high-powered performance of the A2500 is a tougher competitor for everyday use than the E310.
The A2500 is a bigger blender because it offers more blending capacity than the E310. The difference is between the 48-ounce carafe size of the E310 and the 64-ounce of the A2500.
So it’s a given that the latter should hold more power to blend a larger quantity of ingredients. That is why the A2500 features a 2.2 HP motor while the E310 features a 2.0 HP motor.
Both are powerful and consistent blenders based on their capacities. But the A2500 is better (and bigger) for cutting through and blending more ingredients. It blends soups, crushes ice, makes butter, blends fruits for milkshakes, and lots more at the touch of a button. The efficient 2.2 HP motor capacity promises no lagging or hiccups in the blade cutting speed.
2. Controls / Settings
The Winner: Vitamix A2500
+Self-Detect Technology
The Self-Detect Technology in a blender works to be able to accommodate different container sizes and adjust the speed settings based on the size. Since the A2500 has a large container size, 64-ounces, it can accommodate a 48-ounce container as well. And the auto-detect technology will alter the variable speed settings to make sure it’s compatible with the smaller container.
Because not every speed that is compatible with a large container is also compatible with a small one. Especially when the A2500 comes with 10 variable speeds and pre-set programs powered by a 2.2 HP motor.
The E310 does not feature any such or similar self-detect technology.
+Blending Programs
Again, the A2500 is a finer choice because it comes with 3 exclusive program settings for blending. This is on top of its 10 variable speed settings dial. You can adjust it further by selecting any one of the blending programs of the blender. It is programmed for automatically blending for smoothies, hot soup, or frozen desserts.
The programs are on the same dial as the variable speed settings with different icons so you know what you’re selecting. It also features a Pulse feature to quickly chomp down and blend hard ingredients.
On the Vitamix E310, you have the 10 variable speed settings and a Pulse feature. It does not offer its users any blending programs for one-touch and personalized access.
3. Cleaning & Maintenance
The Winner: Vitamix E310
+Size
I have no problem with the E310’s container capacity because it’s perfect for blending smaller quantities of ingredients. Maybe you don’t need a big jar if you’re blending 1 cup of ingredients at a time. For that, the 48-ounce container size of the E310 is more than enough.
But if you do want more, the 64-ounce is the next-step blender for blending 2 cups at a time. Remember you cannot add 1 cup of ingredients in a 64-ounce container and expect it to blend smoothly. It requires at least 2 cups worth to blend in a matter of seconds.
The ultra-powerful motor of the E310 is capable of making butter fuss-free and consistently. It’s only a matter of how much butter you want to make at a time that will help you pick from the Vitamix E310 vs A2500.
One thing though is that in my research I found the E310 to be quicker to clean because of its small size. Cleaning underneath the blades in the wider A2500 is more time-consuming, especially after making butter.
+Noise Level
Noise levels determine the loudness of a blender. Blenders are loud – there is no denying that fact. But finding out whether they will wake up the whole house or not is the important thing.
The noise level of the E310 is around 86 dB which is loud for a blender but it’s within range when you compare it with the 94 dB noise level of the A2500.
So if you’re using the A2500, expect more noise from it which will not interfere with performance or impact the design quality of the blender. Both are very high-quality blenders that won’t spoil or damage even after prolonged and intense use. But the noise level is a bit of a concern. To go with something less noisy, the E310 is your pick.
4. Utilities
The Winner: Vitamix A2500
+Wireless/Bluetooth
In par with Vitamix’s Ascent Series, which includes only smart blenders, the A2500 also features Bluetooth connectivity. You can connect it to the Perfect Blend app on your smartphone or tablet.
For you, this means getting accurate readings for recipes and other important blending guides on your phone. The app will show all the information you need about the blender you’re using. This includes the container size, ingredient amounts, speed compatibilities, and recipes.
You can personalize blending recipes and match them to the container size so you don’t have to guess how much to reduce or add while making delicate recipes like butter or soups.
Combined with everything else the A2500 has, and the E310 does not, the former is a steal!
+Digital Timer
Smart blenders come with a digital timer for setting up the exact duration of your blending. Chefs in training and even those who love to cook will enjoy this simple yet intuitive feature.
The E310 does not offer a digital timer. What you’ll also find in the A2500, because of the timer function, is a small screen that displays the timer settings on top of the dial. It’s not very small that you have to squint and watch out for the number. It’s big enough for comfortable visibility.
And you also have Bluetooth-enabled technology and an app to control the digital timer from. So clearly, the A2500 gives you plenty of options to play around with.
+Warranty
High-quality blenders will a longer warranty, longer than 5-7 years, are rare finds. And the A2500 is one of them. Compared with the 5-year warranty that the E310 offers, the A2500 features an impressive 10-year warranty which is hard to miss out on.
If you’re looking for a sturdy and durable blender, even after considering that you will need to blend lots of hard-shelled ingredients as well as make butter, grind beans, whirl up thick milkshakes, etc. all in one blender, the 10-year assurance is a blessing!
Vitamix E310 vs A2500: Similarities
Both the E310 and A2500 offer features such as the pulse switch, motor base, 10 variable speeds, stainless steel blades, and BPA-free plastic containers. These blenders also feature a self-cleaning function for the container and blades with a detachable blade design that is dishwasher-friendly.
So when it comes to keeping the blender’s parts clean and shiny, the Vitamix is a dependable choice. Both blenders, despite their varying sizes, have the same weight (11 – 11.5 lbs).
So it’s possible to fit both blenders easily on kitchen countertops. They are easy to shift from one corner of the space to another as well.
The 10 variable speed settings let you blend everything from creamy butters to soups to ice creams and milkshakes. Thanks to the sturdy motor base, the blenders are capable of absorbing vibrations without feeling wobbly or unsteady.

I am sure you love food. Otherwise, you won’t be here. As a full-time and a part-time chef at a local restaurant, I know my way around food. Ever since I was a young girl, I enjoyed helping my mom in the kitchen.
We would often experiment with the spices, ingredients, and flavors and create great meals for my brothers and dad. Since cocking was my first passion, I decided to go in that direction. I finished culinary school, got my first job, and started developing my skills.
Later when kids came, I had all the liberty in the kitchen to combine some of the unique flavors. A lot of them were a success, but now and there I would make a couple of mistakes.
