Vitamix A2500 vs Ninja: Differences

The Ninja A2500 wins 3 – 2 against the Ninja. The reason is that while both are versatile and programmable blenders, the A2500 is more upgraded than Ninja.

The Ninja is the superior choice based on durability, blending power, and overall maintenance. Both blenders, however, have the same rating in cleaning and maintenance as they feature dishwasher-safe parts and easy-to-remove blender parts including the jars and lids.

1. Blending Performance

The Winner: Vitamix A2500

Vitamix A2500 Blending Performance

+Variable Speeds

With 10 variable speeds, the Vitamix triumphs over the Ninja for better control and accuracy over different blending textures. Its control panel features a rotary dial with 10 variable speeds and 3 blending modes (smoothies, frozen desserts, and hot soup).

On the right is the start/stop switch and on the left, the pulse feature. The functionality and usability of the A2500 are direct and intuitive. There’s no guesswork involved because the Vitamix offers plenty of programmability for achieving different textures of food.

I’m talking about distinctions in consistency and thickness between fruit juices, smoothies, crushed ice, sauces, hot soup, butter, and so much more.

The Ninja, on the other hand, features 4 buttons instead of a rotary dial. It features 4 variable speeds for blending, mixing, crushing, and single-serve. So it’s not as varied in texture control as the Vitamix – which, to me, is a huge letdown.

But the 4 buttons do allow intricate customizations across the 4 most common blending methods for a kitchen. A blender can be used for a variety of kitchen use, for blending, mixing, grinding, pulsing, crushing ice, etc. So you have half of the work cut out for you when Ninja offers you blending modes, not variable speed levels.

But, again, this depends on how well-versed you are with power blenders. I, on the other hand, prefer the 10 variable speed settings of the Vitamix. Plus, the 3 blending modes for making smoothies, hot soup, and frozen desserts.

+Motor

The Vitamix screams for better performance and blending power with its 2.2 HP motor. The Ninja, on the other hand, is compatible with both big and small blending capacities so its 2.0+ motor rating is sufficient for its size. But in comparison to the Vitamix, it is slightly less powerful.

The power range for a 16-ounce, 64-ounce, and 72-ounce blending jar of the Ninja is quite impressive. The Vitamix offers only a large 64-ounce jar which has lots of blending power with its strong, efficient 2.2 HP motor.

Both blenders can cut through tough ingredients. And have plenty of options for making butter, dough, smoothies, pulverized ice, and much more.

2. Controls / Settings

The Winner: Ninja

+Blending Sizes

Ninja is famous for its far-reaching size and competency. It is, after all, a mega kitchen system that entails more blending capacities than a single high-powered blender.

In the case of the Vitamix A2500 vs Ninja, the Ninja offers 3 more blending jars than the Vitamix A2500. While the A2500 features a single 64-ounce jar, the Ninja BL770 has a 72-ounce blender jar and 2 x 16-ounce serving cups with lids on top of the primary 64-ounce container.

This means that the Ninja’s blending power extends to everyone in the house. It holds enough power, speed, and stability to suit the blending needs of an individual and the entire family!

Vitamix A2500, featuring the 64-ounce jar, is ideal for large servings only – 2 cups and more. It’s powerful and sufficient but lacks the flexible accommodation that the Ninja offers to its user.

But, it must be said, that the Vitamix A2500 features ‘Self-Detect Technology’ that allows you to buy and use smaller blending containers on the A2500’s motor base.

+Container Shapes

The Ninja comes with different blending sizes but also different purposes for each blending jar. For example, the 64-ounce jar is a processor bowl for processing food like dough and chopped vegetables. It can chop up to 8 cups of vegetables and make 2 pounds of dough in less than a minute.

The 72-ounce blending container is an ice-crushing pitcher for pulverizing ice, making frozen drinks, smoothies, and other creamy ice-frozen drinks.

Next, the two 16-ounce single-serve serving cups come with lids for solo use. You can make fruit juices, smoothies, iced coffee, and other such ‘to-go’ drinks easily.

The lids on both the 16-ounce cups are durable and secure for portable use. So it serves as your very own ‘to-go’ travel mug.

The Vitamix does not offer such a wide array of blending jars. It has just the one, 64-ounce blending container, that does everything from making smoothies, crushing ice, kneading dough, etc.

3. Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: It’s A Tie

+Size

Taking into consideration the fact that both the Vitamix A2500 vs Ninja BL770 has a 64-ounce jar. And even though the BL770 has more blender jars, it is more lightweight than the Vitamix.

The Vitamix weighs 11 lbs while the Ninja weighs around 9.2 lbs. Both are made of BPA-free plastic and stainless steel. But with regards to portability, the people favor the Ninja for its higher number of flexibility options plus lightweight construction.

+Self-Cleaning Feature

Overall, the Vitamix is easier to clean than the Ninja. You can use the Smoothie preset for cleaning after adding warm water and a few drops of dish soap. It cleans up really smooth and nice.

By blending soapy water, you don’t have to use your hands or a sponge to get rid of food scraps underneath the blades.

Cleaning build-up on the Ninja is trickier because getting inside, under the blades after making a sticky recipe (like butter) can take time. To make it easier, you can purchase a few dish-washing brushes to go with the blades. It works like a charm and you will be able to get rid of stuck condiments, butter, cream, or hummus from under the blades effectively.

4. Utilities

The Winner: Vitamix A2500

+Warranty

The Vitamix comes with a whopping 10-year warranty while the Ninja offers a 1-year warranty. This is a significant jump from 1 to 10 years as far as the Vitamix A2500 is concerned. So it’s more tempting to choose the Vitamix over Ninja.

The product warranty of the Ninja is quite limited which is a huge letdown. Not all the parts of the Ninja are covered under the warranty. For example, the 64-ounce processor bowl isn’t. It’s only the motor and motor parts of the blender that is under the 1-year warranty.

You can, however, purchase an additional warranty through Amazon but that will cost extra.

The Vitamix offers 10 years on all important parts and features. And it’s included in the price of the product. If you want an additional warranty, you can extend it up to 3-4 years more (that will be 13-14 years in total) by paying extra.

+Bluetooth Connectivity

The Vitamix is also quite famous for its Bluetooth technology. It means you can connect your blender with the companion app on any smartphone. And you can access even more blending programs from your phone.

You don’t have to use the presets or even the variable speed dial that’s on the machine. You can simply select the preset from the app and as long as the blender is powered on, the blender will work.

For an upgrade in your everyday blending needs, the A2500 is a better pick. You can easily walk away from the blender because it automatically stops when the blending is done.

This feature, coupled with the digital timer setting, is a serious update from Vitamix’s predecessors. And since you can already sync it with the app, it’s easy to maneuver and encourages multi-tasking during meal prep.

Vitamix A2500 vs Ninja: Similarities

So what do Vitamix and Ninja have in common, despite their dissimilarities…

1. 64-ounce Container

Vitamix 64-ounce Container
Vitamix 64-ounce Container

One thing in common, that most people notice, is that the Vitamix and Ninja work with 64-ounce blending jars. This is suitable for large families, making smoothies, fruit juices, etc. And it’s also good for making large batches of sauces, butter, soup, marinades, etc. for 1-2 people during meal prep.

The blending jar is made of BPA-free plastic and stainless steel blades. You can make a smoothie in the 64-ounce for one person easily. But you may have to put a little more than usual to be able to blend more easily and smoothly.

Both blenders blend within 60 seconds and regardless of how many ingredients you add into one smoothie. Be it whey protein, seeds, ice cubes, leafy greens, fruits, and powders. The smoothie will taste creamy and lump-free!

2. Speed + Pulse

Though the number of variable speeds between the Vitamix A2500 vs Ninja is different, both blenders come with a Pulse feature. The Pulse feature is powerful as it produces short bursts of high speed.

This should be helpful to you when blending smoothies or sauces or chunky salsa recipes to make sure the texture is just right.

3. Easy To Clean

All the parts of the Vitamix and Ninja are removable and easy to clean. Some parts are also dishwasher-friendly so you don’t have to wash them by hand. You can easily disassemble the blender jar for storage. And the motor base has strong rubber feet to avoid wobbling.

The stainless steel blades are more solidly-built than sharp so as to retain their edginess over a long period of time. The large jar comes with a secure lid and a grip handle to avoid spilling during pouring.

You can easily wipe the surface of the blender with a plain cloth, including the control panel and the exterior of the motor base.

Both blenders come with a cord wrap that is quick and stable to use. Though the Vitamix features a longer cord wrap, around 2 feet longer than the Ninja.

4. User-Friendly Interface

Both the Vitamix and Ninja feature a one-touch interface with program buttons that allow you to select what blending texture you need before blending. It also features a start/stop button to control the duration of the blending if you’re following a specific recipe.

On the Vitamix, this means using the rotary dial to select the speed and blending modes. And on the Ninja, you have to push the buttons to select your speed/blending mode.
